Discover your North Star.
When we attempt something that might take a bit more effort than other things—like going imperfectly green—it helps to have something to keep us on track, something like a beacon when the way gets dark. A North Star. ⠀
Your North Star is what or who guides you, moves you forward, excites you most, and inspires you to keep going. It will help you stand your ground, roll up your sleeves, and help discern the right direction to move toward.
Maybe it’s your mission. Maybe it’s your kid. Your North Star is what gives you purpose and brings you clarity.
Ultimately, your North Star will shift your consciousness to see beyond the horizon of your daily decisions. Illuminating how the companies you support, the conversations you have, the petitions you sign (or create), the trash you toss, the truths you hold, the actions you take, the routines you create, the changes you make… they all matter. ⠀
When you get curious about what you consider your North Star, you will begin to realize (or embolden) your reason for being here, which you can see as a heavy responsibility or a great possibility. You have a better idea of where you’re headed.
My North Star is my children, twin babies who will inherit the results of the choices I make now. I hope they have the opportunity to experience a world full of natural beauty, human connection, and innovation. A world where love guides us to care for each other and all the creatures around us. When I’m tired or doubtful, and many times when I feel inconvenienced, there’s my North Star as a guide, inspiring aligned action. It’s likely the reason Sol Refill exists today!
What’s your North Star? Find some time to contemplate. You’ll have to listen closely, let it evolve. You’ll know when it’s right. Then let it guide you!
Bonus: Find people who have similar North Stars as you do. Connect and collaborate with them to share resources and knowledge to create even more impact.
